When our doors opened in 1960 and we began serving our first students, we were known as the Catawba County Industrial Education Center. Today, Catawba Valley Community College continues to evolve with both campus and program expansion to serve our stakeholders. We have several off-campus centers, such as the Alexander Center for Education, the Furniture Academy, the Catawba Valley Manufacturing Academy, the Manufacturing Solutions Center I and II, the Corporate Development Center, and the Cosmetology Center. We have also reviewed and revised program offerings to meet the ever-changing needs of business and industry.
What remains constant is our commitment and passion to improve the lives of the people we serve. We are committed to valuing every person who walks onto our campus looking for a better future. This is foremost despite the global impacts of the historical Covid-19 Pandemic.
Today, we proudly graduate around 1,100 students each year in curriculum degrees and general education diplomas. In addition, nearly 12,000 individuals enroll in lifelong learning classes, or receive occupational training through our non-credit division. We continually strive to provide the best educational experience for our students as evidenced by our 95% student satisfaction rating.
Our students set the bar each year, winning local, state, and national competitions for Red Hawk Nation! Our college workforce students are prepared for the workforce and our college transfer students are ready for their next step to a four-year college or university. All this is made possible through the dedication of our employees to provide innovative instructional methods and to focus on the primary goal – student success!
