The mission of the General Education Program of CVCC is to develop solid reasoning and critical thinking skills in today’s technological society through exposure to a broad variety of academic disciplines. Participation in General Education courses will foster lifelong learning and lead to success in future academic and career-oriented endeavors.

The School of General Education provides courses on our main campus at CVCC and at the Alexander Center in Alexander County.  Our Career and College Promise Program brings our general education courses to high schools in Catawba County. The Career and College Promise (CCP) Program allows qualified high school students to be enrolled in their high school and earn tuition free college credits at the same time.

In addition, our College and Career Readiness (CCR) is a free-of-charge program open to the public and is operated within the School of General Education. CCR serves the community through Adult High School, High School Equivalency (GED), English as a Second Language, and Adult Basic Education (serving intellectually disabled students). Without proper funding, we cannot provide these programs or resources. A donation to the School of General Education means we are better equipped to serve this community and can continue to offer these services to students of all ages.
